B.C.'s NDP/Green Coalition is Dead
|
|
With the
election of Carole James as the B.C. N.D.P.'s new leader, the notion of
a coalition between the NDP and Adriane Carr's Green Party is
dead. New found faith, revised policies and solid footing bring
the NDP back to the forefront as the only party capable of defeating
the Liberals in the 2005 election. James's keen insight and her first hand knowledge of where sustainability came from in the first place - our First Nations Peoples - see her as the only contender able to bring about a viable option against a government that has done nothing but hinder British Columbia with dinosaur 'old boy' policies and outlooks. Hope and trust are strong components that returning lefts are placing in James ...with motherhood and school district leadership as a strong backbone, there's no messing around with this woman who's base is growing minute by minute. Download the NDP's "Who we are, where we stand" to get a more comprehensive guide. While Adriane Carr's Green Party has proven effective as a protest vote for the disenfranchised, it is not the Green Party of Europe, in fact a far cry from it, as any politically savvy European will tell you. Without the necessity for a protest vote anymore, Coalition insiders say the chance of anything materializing is unlikely. The Green Party is still in it's very youth and party platform is loose ended. Compared to the NDP's revised policies and constituency reps and one is reminded of the NDP in the early 70's. Still, one must give them credit for perseverance and progressiveness, even though the party seems always, to be about Adriane herself. One need hardly address the B.C. Marijauna Party other than to say how they are keeping some of the pot heads fooled. President and avowed libertarian Marc Emery has made his millions and the Marijuana Party is not key to decriminlization in Canada. In fact, this party is pure insult to women and First Nations Peoples. Policies are dry, glib, and all somehow hinge loosely on bringing 'bud' into the limelight. That's about it. Please check out the following links and have a look for youself at the new inroads the NDP has made, the incomparison the Green has to offer, and if you're in the mood for insult to injury, the Liberals and Marijuana Party.
